English/ESL Tutor - Part Time - Cypress College
North Orange County Community College District is now accepting applications for Part Time English/ESL Tutors at Cypress College! Tutors provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to Cypress College students.

$15.00–$18.00 per hour

Scheduled hours between 9am – 7pm, Monday thru Thursday and 9am – 3pm Friday.

-Provide individual or small group tutoring for students in specific subject areas.
-Follow Learning Resource Center guidelines, which includes integrating study and learning strategies that promote students to be independent learners.
-Guide students through subject-specific Directed Learning Activities (DLAs).
-Participate in ongoing mandatory monthly training on Fridays during the semester in order to receive tutor certification.
-Promote tutoring services by conducting classroom visits.
-Perform related duties as assigned.

-Be sensitive to and respectful of student needs.
-Support and care about student success.
-Demonstrate an understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, mental or physical disability, and religious background of all students, faculty, and staff.
-Work with a significant degree of independence and good judgment.

-Must have earned a B.A. or B.S. in English, TESOL, TESL, Linguistics, or Rhetoric Composition with significant course work in the subject area.
-Must have earned an “A” or “B” in courses you would like to tutor.
-Strong communication skills to clearly explain concepts to students. -Communicate effectively in a timely manner.
-Commitment to diversity. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how their experience with these factors relates to successfully achieving the goals of the position.
