English/ESL Tutor - Part Time - Cypress College
  
North Orange County Community College District is now accepting applications for Part Time English/ESL Tutors at Cypress College! Tutors provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to Cypress College students.


HOURLY RATE:
$15.00–$18.00 per hour


Scheduled hours between 9am – 7pm, Monday thru Thursday and 9am – 3pm Friday.


JOB DUTIES:
-Provide individual or small group tutoring for students in specific subject areas.
-Follow Learning Resource Center guidelines, which includes integrating study and learning strategies that promote students to be independent learners.
-Guide students through subject-specific Directed Learning Activities (DLAs).
-Participate in ongoing mandatory monthly training on Fridays during the semester in order to receive tutor certification.
-Promote tutoring services by conducting classroom visits.
-Perform related duties as assigned.

-Work with a significant degree of independence and good judgment.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-Must have earned a B.A. or B.S. in English, TESOL, TESL, Linguistics, or Rhetoric Composition with significant course work in the subject area.
-Must have earned an “A” or “B” in courses you would like to tutor.
-Strong communication skills to clearly explain concepts to students. -Communicate effectively in a timely manner.
-Commitment to diversity. All applicants must have demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how their experience with these factors relates to successfully achieving the goals of the position.
