Temporary Hourly: DSS Classroom Aide, and/or Educational Coach, Part-Time, NOCE All Campuses, up to 4 in-person positions; limited remote offerings; substitutes needed.

North Orange County Community College District is now accepting applications for a Part-Time DSS Instructional Aide or Educational Coach at NOCE!
Job description:

Classroom Aide:
- Assist Instructor with technology in creating online curriculum
- Assist Instructor with paperwork (copies, filing, etc.)
- Ensures classroom, office and instructional areas are maintained (on campus)
- Work with small groups of students under supervision of instructor
- Supervise students during non-instructional periods (lunch, break, before school, after school) (on campus)

Educational Coach:
- Provide academic support to Students with disabilities (SWD) who desire or are currently enrolled in an inclusive course/s at NOCCCD (NORTH ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT) (NOCE, CC/FC), including CTE (Career Technical Education), college prep course/s and/or becoming acclimated to the post-secondary education environment
- Services available from an Educational Coach are designed to prepare students with assistance in completing an Educational Plan consisting of an inclusive course/s in their post-secondary educational experience
- Provide support in effort for students to build the necessary skills to secure and maintain employment
- Educational Coaching varies based on the student and their individual needs. Some students receive direct in-class support where the coach attends the class (virtually) with them and provides the necessary support requested. Others may need support outside of class with study skills, educational strategies and/or basic academic guidance with coursework
- Below are some of the supports an Educational Coach can provide:
o Academic and self-advocacy support in inclusive courses
o Academic coaching in inclusive classes on each of the three campuses
o Guidance in time management, organization, and study skills
o Communicate and collaborate with students’ successes, challenges, progress, and concerns
o Assistance in developing natural supports
o Assistance in accessing community resources
o Support in self advocacy
o Support in coworker/supervisor consultation
o Supports in potential job retention concerns, such as, work environment changes
- Note:
o An Educational Coach is not an academic advisor or an expert in the academic level/subject they are supporting a student in; yet is considered in the placement of an Educational Coach and Student when applicable
o An Inclusive Class is a general education structured class in which students with and without disabilities learn together. It is the opposite of a special education classroom, where students with disabilities learn with only other students with disabilities


Desirable skills:
- These would be desired/preferred qualifications
- Spanish fluency
- Organizing skills

Schedule:
- August 22-June 30, 2023; 38.5 weeks/26 hours a week max; flexible hours; availability between Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:00pm desired
- Potential for contract renewal for fiscal year July 1-June 2023
- Unpaid lunch
Salary:
Non-Classified short-term hourly, $15 hour

Positions will be filled for 2022-2023; potential for rehire for next academic year, 2023-2024.
