The Positions
ITV/The Weekend College Program is seeking adjunct faculty [Limited Status] to teach Psychology 1, Introduction to Psychology and Psychology 41, Lifespan beginning in the Fall Semester 2016. Weekend College classes are taught in an accelerated eight-week format. The classes have three components; video lessons which are already produced, an online component using the Etudes Course Management System (CMS) and weekend class meetings. Assignment will begin Fall 2016 and may be renewed upon successful evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications
The minimum qualifications for Psychology are a Master’s in psychology OR Bachelor’s in psychology AND Master’s in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience, or social work OR the equivalent.
Responsibilities
Faculty teaches on the weekends on four different campuses: City and West Los Angeles Colleges on Saturdays and Valley and Pierce Colleges on Sundays. Faculty teaches at all four locations. Faculty is responsible for the online aspects of the class using the Etudes CMS. In addition, there is a six hours a week office hour requirement served one day a week (1-8 PM) in the Weekend College Offices at LA Mission College. Office hours may be spilt over two days if necessary.
Desirable Qualifications
• Community college teaching experience.

• Experience or interest in teaching in a virtual learning environment. Faculty who has certification in Blackboard, Canvas CourseCompass, or ETUDES will be given preference.

• Applicants must meet complete training in Etudes. Selected candidates must be certified in Etudes or complete online training for Etudes prior to beginning the assignment.
• Experience teaching short-term classes.

• Applicants must demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students including those with physical and/or learning disabilities.

Salary
Compensation is in accordance with the Preparation Salary Schedule at forty percent of a full-time assignment. The salary range is $10,634 - $16,556. Benefits includes illness time and, if eligible, the opportunity to participate in group health insurance and retirement.
